At The Park
My six a.m. chanced encounter with Dean Noel C. Cadete days ago at the town park no less, out of which a small chat followed, was really rewarding – in that it has offered some important information on who have been responsible for what that has taken place at the park which must have escaped our awareness and understanding. |
I had no idea what went into my head why I had taken that early morning walk which I did for the first time in so many years in my life. Tough luck, that was all, perhaps. |
At any rate, I found Dean Noel at the park feeding his Koi fishes. He was standing on the concrete, rainbow bridge that spanned the length of the pond, throwing fish meal into the emerald water. |
Basically, Dean Noel C. Cadete and Mr. Ben Tagle who tied responsibilities with Municipal Tourism Officer Corel Hannah L. Yap make up the force tasked in the improvement and beautification of the plaza and park. |
Of Mr. Tagle, Ms. Yap said that he is a “true-hearted Janiuaynon. . . . who had tirelessly spent days and nights shaping (the newly-landscaped frontage of the plaza) into a beautiful piece of creation.” |
With the fountain, children’s playground, lagoon, the old bandstand, and the new structures currently constructed as eye-catchers, no passersby by any chance would miss the park as nothing comes lovelier by every detail than such Life’s tapestry. |
So far, a financial assistance of P107,000.00 has been poured into the improvement of the park, representing donations of P57,000.00 and a P50,000.00 loan from committee members. |
Donors, therefore, in the person of Brian and Cathleen McCallion who have coughed up P30,000.00 to support the project; Sydney, Jordyn and Cheyanne Tagle, P2,500.00; Ma. Luisa Buscar and Bros, P17,500.00; Cezar and Cecille Cortez, P2,000.00; and Carlo and Christine Lagman, P5,000.00, - all in all amounting to P50,000.00, - were heaven-sent. |
Dean Noel said for no one in particular that the executive committee should hire laborers that must oversee the upkeep of the park day in and day out, and he was willing to give a hand at supervising them. (pcm) |
